  JW sighting while shopping

  i was out today at the grocery store, picking up a few things for the weekend, when just beyond the pineapples, i spotted a jw lady i was once friends with.. i wasn't interested in engaging in conversation, so i just continued picking out fruit, when out of the corner of my eye, i see her look at me and recognize me.

  she looked like she was panicking, and then darted behind a pillar in the store, trying to hide from me!.

  my dd was with me and noticed what happened.

  A big hello and thank you

  i just wanted to introduce myself and say a big hello to all of my mentally diseased friends.. i say friends because i have been lurking for some time so it feels like home (us lurkers are a bit scared and cautious so it takes a while).

  i won't bore you with too many details, but i am a born in, currently serving as the cobe of a congregation.

  my wife and i have pioneered for the last 10 years and were shaken awake by that ridiculous 15th july 2013 wt about the generation and 1914.. my wife who is much smarter than me has questioned for years.

  JW 'urban legends'

  i was thinking about some of the old jw urban legends that we grew up with and believed in as jws.

  most of the ones i remember revolved around stories about demons, and jws being "attacked" when they would do something wrong.

  some of these legends scared the crap outta me when i was little.

  Here is one I heard.

  Chris de Burgh giving a concert and apparently there was a piece he wanted to do where the drums would play themselves, apparently the daemons would play the drums. The didn't play because there were some JWs in the audience, so Chris de Burgh asked that if there were any JWs in the audience that they should leave the auditorium, otherwise the daemons would not play the drums.

  I asked where is the proof?

  arguing with my husband again, i asked where is the proof that jesus looked down on earth in 1919 and chose a small group of bible students in america apart from them saying it in their magazines.

  also where is the proof that satan and his demons were cast down in 1914 just because first world war started.

  neither of these things are in the bible only in their magazines.

  what would have happen if i was not home when jehovahs witnesses knocked on my door?.

  there was a group of us living in a small trailer in the mid 60s when and old pioneer brother knocked on our door and placed all kinds of books and magazines with us.

  all of us took it seriously and studied and started attending the kingdom hall.

  Rumor about the Imitate Jesus Convention

  i saw a rumor a few weeks ago on reddit that the new imitate jesus convention is supposed to present new light and clarified understandings on the disfellowshipping/disassociation practices.. supposedly, if this rumor has any truth to it, there will be a talk given at the convention about how we should not be strict like the pharisees in how we shun people, loosening up some of the jw rules about this practice.. has anyone here heard anything about this or have more info on it?.

  New Light and Clarified Understandings on the Disfellowshipping/Disassociation practices.

  I was reading through the thread and everybody seems to think if this new light comes it will be positive in that they will weaken the stance on Disfellowshipping/Disassociation. Well how about them tightening it up even further, by including faders. They could have some arbitrary limit for being inactive, and after lets say 6 months these persons will automatically be disassociated. This would be more like the bOrg.

  one lawyer said he has over 28 cases in the pipeline that are going to be coming out soon.

  on december 1 st a new one just popped up.

  But seriously, I do not think they would risk losing the non-profit status just for personal gain, we are talking about billions. But deliberately losing the non-profit status may well bring them personal gain.

  To give up the non-profit status voluntarily they would have to distribute all the assets to other non-profit organizations, I am not sure what would happen if the status was taken away from them. Certainly they would be taxed.
